Are you really serious about weight loss this January? Only space for 2 new clients.

This January I am looking for just 2 new people who are looking to lose weight and transform their life for the long haul, not just a quick fix. To qualify for this programme you will need to fulfil the following criteria;

  1.  You will need to have been overweight for some time and tried a variety of slimming methods and diets.
  2.  You will need to be serious about losing weight and feeling better.

And that’s it! Oh and you will need to throw out all your old ideas and deep-rooted beliefs about diet and exercise. Surely, if any of it worked you would not still be where you are now?

Here are some of the methods you may have tried in the past;

  1. Groups like Slimming World and Weight Watchers. Wait, I can hear you say already, I lost a lot of weight when I joined this group. It was my fault I couldn’t stick with it etc. Not your fault actually – the advice was plain WRONG, even if it worked initially.
  2. Good old calorie restriction – smaller meals. This will just slow down your metabolism and you’ll feel awful after a while. Your body is not stupid – it knows it has to conserve energy if not getting much in.
  3. Exercising like mad to create a ‘calorie deficit’. This won’t work for the same reason and also because hard exercise is a stressor too and stress promotes fat storage.
  4. Extreme diets of one kind or another – unsustainable because you’ll crave the things you can’t have.

Much of what you have been told since birth about diet and exercise is completely wrong. You were told to eat little and often, to never miss breakfast, to eat a ‘balanced’ diet (that means a diet high in processed carbohydrates like bread and pasta in reality), to achieve a ‘calorie deficit’ with loads of cardio. Did it work for you? Has it worked for the general population? No, obesity and all the metabolic diseases that follow on from this have gone through the roof since all this was recommended from the 1970’s onwards and medication is seen as the only answer. It’s a sick joke!

You will not get the results you want this year by doing what you did in the past, nor by following public health advice in general. This is all about selling product for profit not your well-being. Those recommending it are part of the problem, not the solution. This is NOT a conspiracy – everybody is just looking after their own individual interests. Food companies and pharmaceutical companies are not trying to kill you but they are responsible to their shareholders and sugar sells best. Likewise, pharmaceutical companies need to sell medication to make money. GP’s are not trained in nutrition and can only follow government guidelines, like other health professionals. They all need to support their families. Government needs to keep powerful lobbies onside to stay in power. You see how difficult it is for anyone to effect change.

Anyway, if you’re serious about losing weight and being healthy you need to think primarily not about how much you eat and how much exercise you do – this is NOT the key despite what you will be told over and over this January.

The permanent sustainable solution lies in addressing what and when you are eating, not the quantity. Furthermore, exercise is great for your mental and physical well-being, but plays a very tiny role in itself in weight management. I’m not recommending it, but you could lose a whole lot of weight just by addressing the eating side, without doing any exercise at all.

Already I can hear the usual howls of protest – I can’t stop eating this or I’d be hungry if I did that. Believe me, its nowhere near as hard as you think – it’s simply living as we were designed to live, not as we’ve been told to live and therefore it actually comes very naturally.

Maybe you prefer to think of the magic pill, the crash diet, the HIIT class, the calorie restriction, the ‘sensible, balanced’ diet, the calorie counting, the gastric band etc. as the better solution? Well, good luck but it won’t work for the long haul, unless you just happen to be in the lucky 1%.

Maybe, it’s better to just pretend that everything’s alright because everybody else you know looks and feels the same as you? I’m sure turkeys feel the same way as they head off to be slaughtered for Christmas lunch.

Anyway, I’m not really interested in trying to convert anybody – I know how difficult it is to go against the crowd and do something different. If you really do want the better life that being lean and healthy provides in every sense, then get in touch with me now and I’ll walk you through it step by step – there’s no overnight radical change here – just small comfortable steps over a 6 month period that will transform your life.

Call now for a consultation to discuss further, but hurry because I can only take on two new weight management clients this January and I want to make sure that they are serious about change.
