Here is a simple recipe for a highly nutritious energy ball snack that I was given recently by a sports nutritionist. The picture doesn’t do them justice – they are actually very tasty and much cheaper than the ones you can buy in the shops and a lot more effective.
Simply throw a large handful or two of mixed nuts and some seeds into a blender or Nutribullet, along with a large handful of dates and a teaspoonful of spirulina powder (available from Holland and Barrett), mix for a few seconds, then roll the resultant paste into a sticky ball in your hands. Keep in fridge until ready to eat.
Delicious energy boost – much better than chocolate.
